Food for the Festivities

Hi ho everyone!

I think I'm on the food committee, and this issue has only been briefly addressed at meetings. These are some ideas I've had.

1) Using the school kitchen: Food expo's would be able to have access to the kitchen, which would save room for more peeps to come in the main area. Of course, we wouldn't be baking anything (maybe...I don't know), but we could maybe have the possibility of serving miso soup, or fresh hot rice off. Anyway, I think it would still be convenient, and it makes sense. Food belongs in the kitchen, no?

2) Sushi. not everyone might be willing to try it (I think there's still the stereotype that it's raw fish). In my opinion, I think we should stay away from the sashimi. I think we should have soba and/or buckwheat noodles, and riceballs too.

4) I have a Japanese cookbook, that gives unique Japanese courses and recipes to try out, such as fish marinated in bean paste, or chrysanthemum-flower bean curd. They have desserts too, such as strawberry snow foam jelly, or sweet bean soup with rice cakes.

Now, I need to go cause I have to go work. Toodles!

You're missing number 3 o.O

The thing here, is that we're not actually cooking anything, I don't believe.  Other than rice and such, it would be a big hassle to have to run back and forth between the kitchens whenever someone ordered rice or noodles, etc.

Sushi is going to be, basically, a 'pick what you want in your roll/sashimi' kind of thing.  We'll have certain things put out such as cucumbers, or tuna and you can pick what you want in your roll.  It's all made for you right then and there and you pay for however many ingredients you want ^^  We need to set a max for that, though, since it's HARD to roll up like 7 things >w<

A cookbook might be a good idea, but the food would have to be cold since we don't want to have to run back and forth between the kitchen and the stand.  Remember, we're also counting on some donations from several different places.  That'll add to our food supply.

Another thing that we're doing is Pocky dipping, right?  Are we still doing that?

Something to keep in mind: the "raw fish" part of some sushi can be dangerous if not prepared properly. We don't want any lawsuits due to food poisoning ~.~

Can't you just ask for the flash frozen stuff?  I'm pretty sure that Rebecca's getting the food from an actual Japanese supermarket.  I'm willing to bet that they'll have 'special sashimi' that's safe to eat.
